The pre-cut vegetables were distributed to retailers in about 10 states under the Country Fresh and store brand labels. The affected stores include Walmart, Harris Teeter, Publix, QuikTrip, Winn Dixie and BI-LO.
A product contaminated with listeria was found by the Georgia Department of Agriculture during a routine sample test, according to Texas-based Country Fresh. The recall was announced August 26. No illnesses have been confirmed.
The various products, which are listed below, had “best if used by” dates from August 7 to August 19.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, elderly people and those with weakened immune systems. An infection can also cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
If you bought any of the products listed above, return it to the store for a full refund.
