According to the Food52 YouTube page, most people stick a cork in the bottle (red or white) and throw it in the fridge, which is fine for a day or two.

But to save leftover wine for longer, you need to try something else.

Experts say you want to find a container, like a mason jar, that’s slightly smaller than the amount of leftover wine. The key is to fill the jar to the very top, so the wine is completely airtight.

Exactly how long will you be able to keep your wine using this method? The general consensus is about five to seven days, so drink up before then!

How to get the best price possible

If you’re trying to save money on your next bottle of wine, the best day of the week to shop is Tuesday, according to the mobile shopping app Ibotta. Avoid buying wine on Saturdays and Sundays.

And to get the lowest price, Ibotta recommends stores like Costco, Sam’s Club, Walgreens or Walmart.
