Osprey child backpack recall

After receiving four reports of children slipping through the carrier leg openings, outdoors company Osprey has issued a recall involving all models of their Poco, Poco Plus and Poco Premium child backpack carriers manufactured between January 2012 and December 2014.

This is a serious recall; one child sustained a skull fracture after falling from the backpack carrier. Another child suffered scratches to the side of the head, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

These nylon child carriers were sold at specialty outdoor stores nationwide including REI. They were also available through Amazon. The general price point was between $200 and $300.

Carriers were sold in three colors — Romper Red, Koala Grey and Bouncing Blue.
