Nearly 700,000 baby rattles recalled due to choking hazard

About 680,000 Oball baby rattles are being recalled in the United States due to a choking hazard, according to a statement from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The rattles have a clear plastic disc on the outside that can break, releasing small beads.

Oball rattles recalled: How to get a refund

There have been 42 reports of the plastic disc breaking and releasing small beads, including two reports of beads found in children’s mouths and three reports of gagging.

This recall includes Oball rattles in pink, blue, green and orange with the model number 81031 printed on the inner surface of the plastic discs and on the packaging.

Only rattles with date codes T0486, T1456, T2316, T2856 and T3065 located on a small triangle on the inner surface of the rattle are affected.

Parents should take the recalled rattles away from their children immediately.

The rattles were sold at major retailers including Target, Walgreens, Walmart and Amazon.com from January 2016 to February 2017. They usually cost about $5 to $7.
