Little Tikes recalls 540,000 toddler swings over fall hazard

Little Tikes has recalled nearly half a million toddler swings because the plastic seat can crack or break causing children to fall off the swing.

Details of the toddler swing recall

Little Tikes is recalling almost 540,000 swings after receiving some 140 reports of 2-in-1 Snug ‘n Secure Pink toddler swings breaking because of a manufacturing defect.

Thirty-nine of the 140 reported injuries resulted in abrasions, bruises, cuts and bumps to the head. Two children even suffered a broken arm.

The swings were sold for $25 from November 2009 through May 2014 at a variety of stores including Walmart and Toys “R” Us, plus online at websites such as LittleTikes.com and elsewhere.

To determine if your swing is involved in the recall, look for model number 615573 molded on the back of the swing seat.

If you find that, you’re not done checking yet; you also must look for the manufacturing date code stamp on the back of the seat.

If the inner arrow of the manufacturing date code stamp points to 10, 11, 12 or 13, your swing is included in this recall.

In addition, swings with a date code stamp of 9 on the inner arrow plus the number 43 or higher stamped on the outer arrow are included in this recall.
