5 Things to Know About Working for CVS Health

CVS Health is one of several companies making a hiring push in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. If you’ve been laid off in the last several weeks, you may be considering looking for work there.

Here’s what you need to know about the CVS Health jobs that are available now, and about working for CVS in general.

1. What Kinds of Jobs Are Available Right Now?

CVS Health employs around 300,000 people across the United States.

The company says the 50,000 jobs that need to be filled right now are full-time, part-time and temporary roles, including “store associates, home delivery drivers, distribution center employees and member/customer service professionals.”

2. What Are the Requirements for Working at CVS Health?

While some more senior positions may ask for advanced degrees, many of the jobs available right now only require that the applicant:

  • Be 16 years old or 18 years old or older, depending on the working environment
  • Have a high school, GED, or equivalent diploma

For most entry-level positions, previous job experience is preferred but not required.

3. How Quickly Could I Expect to Be Hired?

According to a press release, “the company will utilize a technology-enabled hiring process that includes virtual job fairs, virtual interviews and virtual job tryouts” to try to get to that 50,000 number.

4. How Much Do Jobs at CVS Health Pay?

According to jobs site Indeed.com, entry-level hourly jobs in CVS retail stores typically pay in the $9 to $15 per hour range, while the average pay for a store manager is closer to $20 per hour.

Warehouse jobs appear to mostly pay in the $12 to $15 per hour range.

In addition, the company has announced it is awarding bonuses to employees who are required to be at CVS facilities to assist patients and customers during the pandemic.

“Bonuses will range from $150 to $500 and will be awarded to pharmacists and certain other health care professionals on the frontlines, store associates and managers, and other site-based hourly employees,” the company said in the press release.

5. What Benefits Does CVS Offer?

According to the company’s website, some of the benefits of working at CVS Health include:

  • Medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage
  • A company contribution to a Health Savings Account
  • Paid time off
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Store discounts

The company has also launched a program to assist employees with both child and elder or adult dependent care needs. Both full- and part-time employees are able to take advantage of up to 25 fully covered days of backup care as of early April 2020.
