Robots, artificial intelligence and automation are changing the way we live, but do these advances in technology pose a threat to your job security?

A new website, WillRobotsTakeMyJob.com, predicts the probability of automation for hundreds of jobs.

Is your job at risk of automation?

The search results are based on a 2013 research report titled “The Future of Employment: How susceptible are jobs to computerisation?”

The report said about 47% of total U.S. employment is at risk of automation.

Earlier this year, Yum Brands CEO Greg Creed said there will likely be a “dramatic change in how machines run the world” by the mid-2020s.

It’s already happening at fast-food restaurants, through kiosks and mobile ordering.

Yum Brands operates Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut. At one Pizza Hut location in Shanghai, China, a robot greets customers and takes them to their table.

When I entered fast food worker into the WillRobotsTakeMyJob.com search tool, it said there’s a 92% probability of automation. Here are the results for other jobs:

  • Accountant: 94%
  • Nurse: 0.9%
  • Dentist: 0.44%
  • Reporter: 11%
  • Cashier: 97%
  • Actor: 37%
  • Teacher: 0.95%
  • Electrician: 15%
  • Driver: 98%
  • Customer Service: 55%

Imagine a robot as your co-worker!

This tool predicts the likelihood of automation, which doesn’t mean robots will take over completely.

For example, accountants fall into the website’s “You are doomed” category because many of the job functions can be automated, such as online tax preparation software.

However, the Bureau of Labor Statistics says accountants will be in high demand through at least 2024.

Although these changes won’t happen to any particular industry overnight, experts say robots will modify job descriptions for humans as some duties are automated.
