With a strengthening economy and low unemployment, workers are no longer asking themselves, “Will I be able to get a job?”
Now it’s more a question of where’s the best city to work in that offers that right mix of job opportunity, affordable living and job satisfaction.
Job search website Glassdoor is out with new data to help answer that question!

Our nation’s unemployment rate fell to a 49-year low of 3.7% in September 2018, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.
That means this is just about the best time to get a job ever in the history of our country!
But where do you look for that job? That’s where the Glassdoor Best Cities for Jobs in 2018 report comes in.
As you peruse the list, you’ll see one very noticeable trend: Major metro areas are out and mid-sized metros are in.
That means you won’t see the likes of San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles — the places where conventional wisdom says you should move for a job — on this list. They’re too expensive and too competitive!
What you will see is cities like Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Cincinnati and Hartford, among others, on this list. They’re all a tad more livable and certainly a whole lot cheaper than the Big 3!
Glassdoor’s Best Cities for Jobs in 2018 was tallied using a proprietary scoring system that equally weighs three factors:
