Be careful when you’re bundling up baby this winter.

OshKosh Baby B’gosh has announced the recall of 38,000 quilted jackets. A manufacturing defect could cause the snaps to detach and pose a choking hazard to your infant or toddler.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the quilted jackets involved in this recall were sold at OshKosh stores, Toys R Us, Bon-Ton, Kohl’s, Stage and Fred Meyer stores, as well as online at the OshKosh website.

In addition, military families should pay special attention because the jackets were sold at military exchanges nationwide.

The jackets, which sold for between $35 and $40, came in both pink and gray.

Surprisingly, the CPSC notes that these quilted jackets were only on racks for roughly a month between August 2017 and September 2017.

But that late summer/early fall window means parents and other relatives may have snapped them up as early Christmas presents for youngsters.

Some 5,000 jackets were also sold in Canada. So that brings the tally of recalled jackets up to 43,000.

Thankfully, no injuries have been noted among the three reports the CPSC received about snaps detaching.

However, one of those reports did involve a child putting a snap in her mouth after it became detached from the jacket.

The following style numbers and UPC codes are involved in the recall.

What to do next

If you have one of these jackets, stop using it immediately and return it to any OshKosh or Carter’s store for a full refund in the form of a $34 gift card (for an infant size) or $36 gift card (for a toddler size).
