Facebook has launched a new feature that could help prevent users from falling for phishing scams.
Hackers often send emails pretending to be from reputable companies like Facebook in an effort to steal sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, credit card details and account information.
But how can you tell if an email from Facebook is legitimate? That’s where this new feature comes in.

Facebookmail.com is a common domain that Facebook uses to send notifications when it detects an attempt to log in to your account or change a password.
Before you interact with the email, you can now check its legitimacy at facebook.com/settings.
Facebook will provide you with a list of security-related emails that have been recently sent, so you’ll be able to determine if the message in your inbox is a fake.
Facebook encourages users to report any suspicious emails to phish@facebook.com.
I found it easiest to access this feature on my computer. Just go to facebook.com/settings, click “Security and Login” in the upper-left corner and scroll down to find “See recent emails from Facebook.”
You can avoid phishing scams by being very careful about opening attachments or clicking on links in emails. Instead, use a search engine to look up the website or phone number yourself!
