As the field of 2016 presidential candidates whittles down, some people might be re-thinking the political bumper stickers on their cars. Luckily, there are a few ways to remove them without a trip to the auto detailer.

What you’ll need

Gather a hair dryer, sturdy plastic card, clean rags, tree sap remover solution and glass cleaner, according to Cars.com.

A word of caution

If you are removing the sticker from a glass surface, a razor blade or a box cutter might come in handy. However, using a razor blade on a car bumper is absolutely NOT recommended, because it can easily damage the paint.

Here’s what to do

  1. Clean the area surrounding the sticker of any dirt.
  2. Hold the hair dryer a few inches away from the sticker and move it around for several seconds, heating the edge of the sticker last. Warning: Applying too much heat can damage the paint!
  3. Using your fingertips or a plastic card, carefully pull the sticker off.

Once the sticker is completely removed from your bumper, Cars.com suggests using tree sap remover to get rid of any leftover adhesive and polishing it off with glass cleaner.

YouTube videos show that WD-40 and Goo Gone are also effective ways to remove stickers.
