New report: GM may eliminate these 6 car models

General Motors may eliminate at least six passenger cars in the United States after 2020, according to Reuters.

Citing people familiar with the automaker’s plans, Reuters reported that the Chevrolet Volt hybrid is among the vehicles that may get the boot.

It’s possible the vehicle could be replaced with a new gasoline-electric crossover model in 2022.

According to the report, other GM vehicles at risk include the Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Cadillac XTS, Chevrolet Impala and Chevrolet Sonic.

This comes as consumers are increasingly opting for SUVs and pickup trucks instead of passenger cars.

Reuters said GM has resorted to cutting shifts at some of its U.S. plants because some GM dealerships have a six-month supply of unsold small and midsized sedans.

A spokesman for General Motors wouldn’t comment on the Reuters report.
