Ford is recalling more than half a million vehicles in North America because of a problem that could cause unintended vehicle movement.

At issue in this latest recall are the shifter cable bushings in certain 2013-2016 Ford Fusion and 2013-2014 Ford Escape vehicles.
The shifter cable may become detached from the transmission, thereby creating a situation where a parked vehicle could be in a gear other than “park” — unbeknownst to the motorist — and may roll away.
“The condition could allow the driver to move the shift lever to ‘Park’ and remove the ignition key, while the transmission may not be in ‘Park,’ with no warning message or audible chime,” Ford notes in a press release.
Here are the specific vehicles included in this recall:
Owners on record who have one of these vehicles will be contacted shortly to have the shifter cable bushing replaced free of charge at a Ford dealership.
But until that time, be sure to use your emergency parking brake!
