One great way to reduce travel expenses is by taking advantage of available discounts. For senior citizens, that means you can typically find a great deal during any time of the year.

In this article, we’ll look at some popular hotels and chains that offer senior citizen discounts. I’ve followed up with each of these chains to verify the details of their senior discounts, but be sure to call before booking to check for any exclusions.

Hotels That Offer Senior Discounts

Each of the hotels and hotel chains listed below offer a senior citizen discount that can help you get a better price than advertised. If you haven’t yet met the required age but you’re an AARP member, be sure to mention that when booking. You may still be able to get the discount or sometimes a rate that’s better than the senior discount.

It’s worth noting here that the senior discount isn’t always the best available rate, so make sure to do your research.

Best Western

Guests ages 55 and older are eligible for up to a 15% senior discount and free Wi-Fi. At some locations, the senior discount includes free breakfast.

Here are all the Best Western brands.

More Ways To Save

For the best prices on hotels, Clark recommends booking online through a discount travel site.

“When I travel for work, I book 95% of my hotels through Priceline.com or Hotwire.com,” says Clark.

Once you know when and where you’ll be traveling, take advantage of your senior discount on a refundable room. Then, check Priceline and Hotwire closer to when you’ll be traveling. If you find a better deal, cancel your original reservation.

Again, no matter where you decide to book, always call in advance to ask about prices for senior citizen discounts, AARP discounts or any other discounts you may be eligible for.
