Have a Lenovo laptop that you think is infected with the so-called ‘Superfish’ software? Follow these steps to get rid of it.
Here’s the deal: Lenovo had embedded adware in its laptops to track everything you did and then serve you relevant ads. But the criminals have been able to hack into this Superfish. This pre-installed software has been causing all kinds of security risks to individuals and small businesses.
The superfish was embedded on laptops shipped from September 2014 to February 2015. Several dozen models have been infected, according to Lenovo:
This is very important to get rid of, and you need to take it seriously. Because you could be running the best antivirus and criminals can still go around that through Superfish.
You have to get rid of Superfish. Lenovo has a step-by-step guide and it’s a pretty complicated thing. First, you have to uninstall the software. Then you have to get rid of the fake security certificate that remains after you uninstall the software.
This guide from Lenovo has screenshots to help you along.
