Earlier this week, I told you how you could make $450 by dumping T-Mobile and going to AT&T. Now T-Mobile has come roaring back with a better offer of its own.

T-Mobile is offering to pay your early termination fees to the tune of $650 when you leave AT&T, Sprint, or Verizon, according to CNNMoney.

That’s credits of up to $350 per line and up to $300 per phone when you turn in your current phone and get a new one from T-Mobile. (You can, of course, keep your old phone number.)

The shared monopoly of AT&T and Verizon has dominated the cellphone landscape forever. You may not know this, but those companies were originally given cellular licenses for free at taxpayer expense”¦and we got hit with high prices and the limitations of 24-month contracts in exchange for our generosity.

But now your excuses are over. You have no reason to stay with those companies. But before you make the switch to T-Mobile, make sure there is adequate coverage where you live. The shades of color on the coverage map will let you know if you’ll have good coverage or not.

Families are the ones who had it the worst with AT&T and Verizon family plans. Now a family can cut monthly costs in half by firing AT&T or Verizon and going to T-Mobile. Let’s just hope their network can handle all the people that are going to come now!
