It’s not a ‘dislike’ button, but Facebook is at least now giving users an alternative to having to ‘like’ everything.
‘As you can see, it’s not a ‘dislike’ button, though we hope it addresses the spirit of this request more broadly,’ said Chris Cox, Facebook’s product chief.
The social network is rolling out a new feature called ‘Reactions,’ which includes several different buttons that allow you to express a wide range of emotions.

‘We studied which comments and reactions are most commonly and universally expressed across Facebook, then worked to design an experience around them that was elegant and fun,’ Cox said.
And ‘yay’ is one of them — along with ‘love,’ ‘haha’ and ‘wow.’ And just like the thumbs-up button is used to express ‘like,’ the new buttons are also emoji-type icons that use widely-recognized facial expressions to allow users to express these different emotions. (So if you want to ‘love’ a post instead of ‘like’ it, you can use the heart button, and so on…) The new feature will also include sad face and angry face buttons.
Facebook is releasing ‘Reactions’ first in Spain and Ireland. And while a roll-out date for the U.S. is still unknown, the company says it will likely be weeks before the new buttons show up for American users.
