If you are considering cutting the cord and using Frndly TV as a cable TV replacement, you’ll need to budget a bit more money each month.

The value-based live TV streaming service recently announced that it raised the subscription prices on all three of its packages.

However, Frndly TV is offering a way to avoid the increased monthly fees for a limited time.

Let’s walk through the new pricing details to determine if Frndly TV is still worth it.

Frndly TV Raises Price, Softens Blow with Annual Discount

Though Frndly TV is among the cheapest live TV streaming options on the market, it is not immune to the subscription price increases that we’ve seen across the industry in recent months.

Frndly TV will now be charging $1 per month more for each of its three streaming packages:

Subscription TierOld Monthly PriceNew Monthly Price
Frndly TV – Basic$6.99$7.99
Frndly TV – Classic$8.99$9.99
Frndly TV – Premium$10.99$11.99

These packages all contain the same channels, but differ based on perks like streaming resolution quality, concurrent streams and cloud DVR storage.

If you’re hoping to avoid this price increase, Frndly TV is giving customers the limited-time option to sign up for an annual plan to lower the average monthly cost:

Subscription TierAnnual Subscription PriceCost for 12 Months if Paid Monthly
Frndly TV – Basic$83.88 ($6.99/month)$95.88 ($7.99/month)
Frndly TV – Classic$95.88 ($7.99/month)$119.88 ($9.99/month)
Frndly TV – Premium$119.88 ($9.99/month)$143.88 ($11.99/month)

This deal gives you the chance to lock in the old pricing (or better!) for 12 more months. You’ll have to pay for a full year in advance, but the savings may be worth it if you know you are happy with the product.

Is Frndly TV Still Worth It After a Price Increase?

Frndly TV is able to offer great prices because it skips out on live sports, news and local channels. While these channels are extremely popular, they are also the most expensive to purchase for a live TV streaming service.

So Frndly’s pitch is to offer more than 40 channels primarily focused on family-friendly entertainment to those who don’t have an interest in those more expensive channels. And they do it for the fraction of the subscription price of YouTube TV or Hulu + Live TV.

This formula still works for a certain segment of the streaming audience, even after a modest price increase.

You can read our full review of the streaming service here, but take a quick look at the channels you could receive from Frndly TV for as little as $8 per month:

Bottom Line: If you loved Frndly TV at previous prices, it’s unlikely that a $1 per month increase is going to chase you away.

In fact, loyalists may want to take this opportunity to lock in the annual subscription price on the tier of their choice to avoid the price hike for another 12 months.

Will this price increase lead you to cancel your service? We’d love to hear your thoughts in the Clark.com community.
