Money expert Clark Howard does more than just work to help you save money — he’s also dedicated to charitable giving.

Clark has sponsored more than 50 Habitat for Humanity houses, is heavily involved with the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and participates annually in the WSB Care-A-Thon benefiting the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA).

This year, on Thursday, July 27, and Friday, July 28, the 17th annual News 95.5 & AM 750 WSB Care-a-Thon will air nonstop for 36 hours. The hours will be filled with stories of hope, daily challenges and kind words from families and staff of the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Tune in to 95.5 FM and AM 750 WSB (in Atlanta) or listen live online from anywhere at wsbradio.com/careathon from 5 a.m. July 27 through 6 p.m. July 28 to hear how your donation makes a difference and to meet some of the children and families you’ll be helping. This money goes directly toward innovative research and diagnostics, clinical care, blood and marrow transplants — all for kids to live better and healthier lives.

Clark is scheduled to be on from 4 pm to 6 pm on Thursday and 2 pm to 6 p.m Friday.

Meet some of the kids being helped by the Aflac Cancer Center at CHOA

Here are some of the children who benefit from your generosity:

Braxton Kincaid Walker

Four-year-old Braxton was diagnosed with T-Cell ALL leukemia this past January — then, just two days later his younger brother was born. Children’s Healthcare has not only treated Braxton’s health issues, but has educated him and supported the transition to being a big brother. His family thanks Children’s for their services and the care they’ve taken to help Braxton through new and difficult developments.

Elizabeth Hunt

At almost 16 months old, Elizabeth Hunt, or Eliza, has had open heart surgery, lives with Down Syndrome, and has been diagnosed with AML leukemia. In her short life, she has had to fight many times and has been incredibly resilient, according to her family. Eliza has undergone chemo and has more treatments to come, but her family has persevered with her and has been encouraged by the excellent care offered by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Trevor Harris

Trevor was eight when he was diagnosed with Fanconi anemia, or FA, an incurable very rare genetic condition that causes bone marrow failure and other symptoms. His best chance was to receive chemo, blood transfusions and a bone marrow transplant. Luckily, a donor was found on the National Bone Marrow Donor Registry and his family was able to get him treatment. That was over a year ago, and Trevor is doing great.

Trevor’s family started Marrow Man Inc. to help Trevor understand his disease and be able to communicate with others about it. The project is centered around the superhero Marrow Man, who protects children from bone marrow diseases. Learn more about Marrow Man and his fight against  bone marrow diseases here.

You can hear other touching stories from patients and families by tuning into the live stream, listening to the 2017 Care-a-Thon podcast episodes, or reading more profiles on these incredibly strong children under ‘Meet the Kids’ on the WSB Care-a-Thon homepage.
