Do you really need to wash new clothes before wearing them? According to health experts, yes.
There are a variety of harsh chemicals used in the manufacturing process that are not skin-friendly — and can actually cause severe skin reactions. Experts say the two most common allergens in new clothing are dye and formaldehyde resin. And until these are washed out, which may take more than one wash, they can cause rashes on the skin.
On top of that, experts say there are even some types of bacteria, infections and even lice that can live on the clothing when you buy it.
Bottom line: it’s better to be safe than sorry… so it’s important to put new clothes through the wash to avoid any potential reactions or other health risks!
