Bad Customers Duping Walmart Into Selling PS4s for $90!

When you’re out there shopping, you have more power than ever to find a bargain. The technology we have on our computers, our tablets, and our phones that allows us to comparison shop has changed the entire retail industry.

You can get many retailers to match a lower price from a competitor by pulling it up on your phone. Walmart is now doing this like they never have before in their history.

But there are people out there messing it all up for the rest of us.

Walmart associates tricked into selling electronics for 25 cents on the dollar

People are reportedly creating fake Amazon pages to show fake prices on electronics and other items. In the most heavily publicized cases, Walmart was reportedly duped into selling $400 PlayStation 4 consoles for under $100.

Here’s how this scam has played out: The perpetrators create fake Amazon pages and show these fake listings to Walmart cashiers (and ultimately to store managers) in an attempt to con them into matching the phantom prices.

This is already gumming up the works, and there are with new procedures where stores have to manually verify any competing deal someone presents as a print-out or on a smartphone, instead of trusting the person.

Walmart has now updated its online price match policy with the following clarification: “We will match prices from Walmart.com and 30 major online retailers, but we won’t honor prices from marketplace vendors, third-party sellers, auction sites or sites requiring memberships.”

The whole thing speaks of a complete lack of class. But to me, it’s beyond that. Anybody who tries to trick a retailer should be prosecuted and get a new set of jewelry — as in handcuffs.
