If you’re looking for a way to cut down on spending at the grocery store, shopping at a place with a senior citizen’s discount could be one way to do it.

While many major retailers, including Kroger and Walmart, have discontinued senior discount days, there are still several grocery stores that offer savings for seniors. In this article, I’ll take a close look at 13 popular grocery store chains that have discounts for older shoppers.

I reached out to each store to verify the details of their senior citizen discounts, but note that discounts and promotions may vary by location.

This article was updated in October 2023 and I review it every eight months. Detailed notes on all updates can be found here.

Grocery Stores With Senior Discounts

Most grocery stores that offer senior discounts choose one day of the week (or one day of the month) to offer a certain percentage off for shoppers over a specific age. Most of the discount days take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but you can find at least one senior discount available somewhere every Monday through Thursday.

Be sure to check with your nearest grocery store(s) for more information on senior discounts, eligible or excluded products and any required memberships or identification.
