If you’re looking for a way to cut down on spending at the grocery store, shopping at a place with a senior citizen’s discount could be one way to do it.
While many major retailers, including Kroger and Walmart, have discontinued senior discount days, there are still several grocery stores that offer savings for seniors. In this article, I’ll take a close look at 13 popular grocery store chains that have discounts for older shoppers.
I reached out to each store to verify the details of their senior citizen discounts, but note that discounts and promotions may vary by location.

Most grocery stores that offer senior discounts choose one day of the week (or one day of the month) to offer a certain percentage off for shoppers over a specific age. Most of the discount days take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, but you can find at least one senior discount available somewhere every Monday through Thursday.
Be sure to check with your nearest grocery store(s) for more information on senior discounts, eligible or excluded products and any required memberships or identification.
Shoppers 62+ can get 10% off every Monday.
Discount amounts and days vary at locations. The eligibility age is 62 and up.
Seniors 65+ can get a 5% discount every weekday between 7a.m. and 3p.m. You can check out the full details here.
Shoppers 55+ can get a 10% discount on the first Tuesday of every month.
Seniors 55+ get 10% off the first Wednesday of each month.
Shoppers ages 65 and up can get 10% off every Tuesday.
Shoppers 60 and older can get 5% off every Thursday.
All seniors ages 55 and older can receive a 5% discount on Thursdays at select locations only.
Senior shoppers 65+ get a 10% discount on most items every Wednesday.
Senior shoppers 60+ get a 5% discount every Wednesday at select locations throughout Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
“Young at Heart Day” is the first Tuesday of every month for Senior shoppers ages 60 and older. You can receive up to 6% off your bill.
Anyone ages 55 and up can get 5% off on Wednesdays.
Seniors ages 60 and older can take advantage of 10% off select Weis brand products every Tuesday.
In addition to senior discount days, there are tons of other ways to save money on your groceries.
