Clark hasn’t exactly been drawn into the hoopla over Prince William and Kate Middleton’s upcoming marriage. But one angle has caught his eye: all the talk urging William to sign a pre-nuptial agreement before he walks the aisle.

A lawyer once called in asking about pre-nups. Clark was very against the idea, and was subsequently raked over pretty well on the Clark Stinks forum! But the truth is, he’s an incurable romantic. He thinks if you choose to walk the aisle with someone, you do that with the intent to spend the rest of your days together. Sure, in about 50% of the cases, that’s not what’s going to happen. But if you enter a marriage where the contract for the divorce is set before the wedding, you’re already setting the seeds of doubt in place.

Life is not just about money. The problem is, if you focus on the marriage as a financial contract by putting a pre-nup in place, you’re saying that money is more important than the marriage.

So, let’s say Will and Kate divorce: he could just end up rich, instead of filthy rich. Most of us don’t live like royalty, but many are wealthy in love and life. If you are already planning for the divorce, Clark thinks you shouldn’t walk down the aisle in the first place. He knows many reasonable people will disagree with this stance…but this just goes to prove that he really is a true romantic!
