Dairy Queen kicks of first day of spring with free ice cream cones

The restaurant and ice cream chain will collect donations for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in lieu of charging for the cone, Dairy Queen officials said in a release. Participating Dairy Queen locations will serve each customers one free small vanilla soft-serve cone with the signature curl on top (limit one per customer while supplies last) during regular business hours on Monday.

During Free Cone Day, participating locations also will collect donations for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®.

As part of Free Cone Day, DQ will also collect donations for children in need

“We’re excited and ready to go for our Third Annual Free Cone Day,” said Barry Westrum, executive vice president of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “Free cones have become a fan tradition — they love it. The icing on the cake is supporting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”

According to the company, last year ‘the Dairy Queen system raised more than $200,000 in one day for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.’
