Save 15 Cents/Gallon On Gasoline

If you are looking to save money on gas, Wal-Mart has a big offer for you in nearly 20 states.

The mega-retailer is offering a discount of 15 cents/gallon all summer long through September 8. It’s available at any Wal-Mart gas station if you use a Wal-Mart money card or credit card or a Bluebird card. (A 10 cent/gallon discount applies if you want to use a Walmart gift card instead.)

Participating states include Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

Florida, Oklahoma, and Minnesota are participating states, but the discount is not 10 cents or 15 cents in those states for an unfortunate reason. What happened is the anti-free market lobbyists got laws passed in those states because they believe such promotions would hurt oil company gas stations.

So Florida residents can only get 5 cents off per gallon and those in Minnesota and Oklahoma only get 3 cents off!

I find it funny that the big, bad oil companies are so weak they cannot compete against a discounter. At the states’ behest, the oil companies got these laws passed restricting the free market.

So save that money at the gas pump if you can in your state!
