Destination: Hot Springs, NC
Best deal found: The Hot Springs campground is a great value. We took a waterfront, group site which accommodated 4 tents, 7 adults and 4 dogs with room to spare for only $ 35./night. They offer bath houses/rest rooms/ porta-potties/ trash pick-up/ fire pits/ and yes for an extra fee they offer jacuzzi tubs refreshed with true Hot Springs water. This is an annual trip for us now. Here is a photo of Debby and DJ relaxing in the French Broad River at the foot of our site.

Destination: Negril, Jamaica
Best deal found: We booked our family vacation through a local travel agency and we purchased the insurance. Thanks to a dedicated travel agent, when the price went down we received the difference. That saved us a few hundred dollars! Also, because of a mechanical problem with our plane on the return portion of our trip the vendor gave us a $1,000 voucher towards our next vacation. Now with the economy the way it is we will certainly use the voucher off our 2009 vacation. With the money we saved our kids were able to enjoy parasailing in Negril!

Destination: North Shore Hawaii
Best deal found: They have public golf courses in certain cities. My brother in law and I played and rented clubs and a cart for around $50 each. The weather was great. The golf course was as challenging and well kept as many private clubs I have played.

Best deal found: These Saudi students asked to have their photo taken with 2 old lady tourists. (Why? We don’t know, but it wasn’t a bad idea with the Empress Hotel in the background. So we took a shot for ourselves as well.) Best deals: Robin Hood Motel, $65.00 per night and right on the local bus route. Fares for seniors $1.40 each way.
