Best deal found: Tree roots at Ta Prohm, Angkor Wat complex in Siem Reap Cambodia. Best Deal was hiring a motobike and driver for $5/US per day. Start at 7am and go all day till 5 or 6. If you don’t like the idea of being on the back of a glorified moped than hire a tuk tuk for about $10-12/day.

Destination: Phoenix AZ
Best deal found: My wife Sandy and I had a chance to visit with her best girlfriend in Sept. of 2007. Sandy and I drove to Phoenix from Vacaville Ca. (near Sacramento). Gas at the time was not as high as it is now and we had never driven out that way together. Sandy had been missing Dee very much over the last year or so as she had taken a new job and moved away. Knowing that we are huge nascar fans Dee was able to secure FREE hospitality tickets to the Nascar race in Oct. Sandy and I jumped at the chance to see a race, and visit. We had a wonderful time. These tickets were really great seats, that included all of the following for free….parking, entrance, food, drinks and pit passes. You cant beat that. It was a great trip, and all it really cost us was gas money (and one night in a hotel on the way home – $50) as we stayed with Dee and her boyfriend at their home in Anthem Az. just north of Phoenix.

Destination: Machu Picchu – Peru
Best deal found:  The dollar is still strong. We booked through OAT Travel and the guide was amazing, small group of fun people and very reasonably priced. Lot more bang for our buck. Amazing restaurants that would cost 3 times as much here in the USA. Astrid and Gaston was our favorite in Lima.

Destination: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Best deal found: I’m sorry Clark, but the deal to survive in Rio is: take a cab! (I know it is not the Clark way) but it is well worth the $10-15 bucks. Better than have a car accident like we had 🙁
