Destination: Arlington, VA
About this photo: Tomb of the Unknowns at Arlington National Cemetery right outside of Washington, DC is also known as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. You can learn about it at the Funeral Museum in Houston but it’s more powerful to see it in person. It is guarded 24/7 and in any weather by Tomb Guard sentinels. The guard is changed every hour during low season and every half hour during high season in an elaborate ritual.
Best deal found: It’s free to visit. I recommend walking there from Lincoln Memorial and taking subway back.
