TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

Mac & Cheese Fest
Chicago’s large appetite for melted cheese and noodles has prompted the folks behind last year’s first-ever Mac & Cheese Fest to expand their offerings this year for a longer, bigger festival. The Mac & Cheese Fest sold out at the University of Illinois at Chicago Forum in its inaugural year, with 2,500 attendees and about 50 restaurants which vied for the adorable macaroni-shaped Golden Noodle Award. This year, more than 50 restaurants will peddle their golden, starchy fare, including Golden Noodle Award-winner Kitty O’Sheas. This year, the fest will be spread out over two sessions, one in the afternoon and one in the evening. Tickets for the October 24 fest are $60 per session and includes an all-you-can-eat tasting buffet and five drink tickets.

Museum Apps
Expand your cultural horizons inside a museum with helpful – and free – interactive iPhone and Android apps. The best 10 museum apps offer a selection from the museum’s collection through high-quality photos and information about each piece, and also helpful guided tours that can be selected based on particular interests. For example, the Prado museum app features 400 works of art with detailed descriptions, and many of these apps also provide you with information on the history of the institution and about the ways these collections have been amassed over the years. Check them all out at Information Week
