This Weekend!
Callaway Gardens is hosting .38 Special and Special Guest, Sam Koon this Friday, June 26 at Robin Lake Beach. ‘Rockin’ Into the Night,’ ‘Hold on Loosely,’ ‘Caught Up in You,’ ‘Fantasy Girl,’ ‘Second Chance,’ and more – from the opening chord you are sure to recognize these timeless hits from Southern Rock band, .38 Special. Bring a chair or a blanket and stop by the Robin Lake Beach Pavilion & Beach Bar for great food and drinks all night long. Go early to check out the FSU Flying High Circus performance before the concert at 6 p.m. Concert tickets can be purchased online in advance for $25 per person, and same-day tickets are $35. Parking is $10 beginning at 4 p.m. (free parking for Annual Passholders and Callaway Connection members). No outside food and beverage is permitted.

Fee Frenzy!
Domestic airlines chalked up record fees from passengers who check luggage or make changes to their reservations. In the first three months of this year, airlines took in $1.6 billion in such fees, up 7.4% from the same period last year. During the past 12 months, the airlines took in $3.6 billion in bag fees and another $3 billion in reservation change fees, typically $200 for domestic tickets and as high as $1,000 for an international itinerary.
Most airlines charge $25 for the first checked bag, but the fees are on the rise for additional pieces and overweight bags.
Other changes may see the profit on fees climb higher:
JetBlue will begin charging customers purchasing its lowest fares for checked bags (cost and effective date unknown).
United Airlines has recently reduced the number of free checked bags for its elite flyers.
Remember, budget travelers: Southwest Airlines still doesn’t charge a fee for checked baggage!
Other gotcha fees:
Up to $200 to change a domestic ticket, plus the difference in the airfare at the time of the change.
Advance/Preferred seating can range from $9 for short haul flights to $300 for international flights. Most passengers pay $25-$50 for preferred seats.
WiFi can cost up to $30 a flight. Purchase a one-day Gogo pass in advance at prices from $16.
Deep discount airlines charge to print boarding passes at the airport, check bags at the airport or for more than one carry-on piece.
Don’t forget to bring an empty water bottle and fill it at airport fountains. Spirit, Allegiant and Frontier all charge for water onboard. Really.

Airfare offers – ones with a ticket-by date – and deals with our suggestion to ‘Hurry!’ can expire at anytime.   Heed Clark’s advice: Buy that great airfare deal – and then figure out a reason to go there! Eventually you’ll see the world at a fraction of the normal price!
