TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

New Orlando Attractions
Crayola Experience, a hands-on attraction that encourages creativity, opened this month inside the Florida Mall, located at 8001 S. Orange Blossom Trail. The two-story, 70,000-square-foot space (the former home of Nordstrom) includes 25 colorful stations such as Drip Art, Doodle in the Dark, Modeling Madness and Rainbow Rain. Visitors can also design their own crayon, complete with wrapper. The attraction also features a large Crayola Store. Open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. daily. The cost is $19 ($3 discount with online, advance purchase).
The Skyplex entertainment complex is planned to open on Orlando’s International Drive in about 18 months. The attraction will include a surf park with three pools atop the 10-story parking garage, the world’s tallest roller coaster, a drop tower attraction, a zip line, and a hotel that should open in 2017. The surf area will face the coaster’s main tower and will have a total beach scene with attractions for toddlers, boogie boarders and even ‘professional-level surfing’ in a continuous-wave pool in a two-acre surf park. Skyplex is the third mega development setting up shop on Orlando’s International Drive following the opening of the 400-foot Orlando Eye observation wheel, a Sea Life Aquarium and a Madame Tussaud’s wax museum.

Worldwide Calling
Standard European roaming rates offered by the major domestic telecoms carriers are exorbitantly high. The typical international roamer in Europe, using major domestic carrier services, should expect to pay at least $1.29 per minute for both incoming and outgoing voice calls. Standard European data rates are equally outrageous, costing about $20 per MB. Given those high costs, it is very understandable that close to 70% of Global Roamers turn off their data services when traveling internationally to avoid a huge roaming bill.

To the rescue: OneSimCard offers low cost international mobile roaming service and the new Europe & More SIM card with international data rates as low as $0.05 per MB. The card retails for $24.95.
On average, OneSimCard customers enjoy a savings of about 85% compared to standard international roaming fees.
The OneSimCard Europe & More provides Direct Dial worldwide calling, SMS text messaging and internet data services in over 40 countries (all EU member countries). It offers free incoming calls in all included countries and a discounted calling rate to the U.S. of $0.25 per minute. The Internet data plan is $0.05 per MB when purchasing the premier 2000 MB data plan.
The prepaid service allows users to immediately monitor the international roaming costs. No contract required, no connection fees,  or subscription fees. Customers are charged only for services used.
All OneSimCards works in unlocked GSM devices and phones. Simply replace the domestic carriers’ SIM card with OneSimCard when traveling internationally.

SPECIAL HOTEL & VACATION DEALS

Christmas in July
The five-star Sea Island Resort has been transformed into a wintry Who-ville wonderland inspired by Dr. Seuss’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The resort located on Georgia’s coast will also be displaying a limited-time-only exhibit of The Art of Dr. Seuss through August 4. Virtually unknown to the general public, Dr. Seuss created a mind-expanding collection of artwork during his lifetime. This historic collection has traveled to museums and galleries across three continent, with works from the collection hanging alongside the likes of Picasso, Chagall, Warhol, and other 20th century masters.
A series of imaginative, themed activities will take place throughout the colorful exhibition. Kids can craft their very own top hat modeled after the beloved Cat in the Hat and sit in on story time — including the highly-anticipated new Dr. Seuss book, What Pet Should I Get? set for release July 28.
The outdoor Sea Island Concert Series runs from July 16 through September 10 (tickets from $40).
Advance purchase rates for The Inn at Sea Island start at $175 a night; from $395 at The Cloister at Sea Island and The Lodge at Sea Island.
