TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

Orlando’s Dining Month
Foodies can begin making reservations for Orlando’s most popular restaurant month: Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month, sponsored by American Express.
The program returns August 24 through September 30 with 19 new participating restaurants including numerous diverse cuisines
The program was designed by Visit Orlando to showcase the wide variety of upscale and diverse dining from Disney Springs to Restaurant Row near the convention center, as well as burgeoning neighborhood districts in downtown Orlando, Winter Park and beyond.
More than 100 restaurants across the destination participate, with each offering a three-course, prix fixe dinner menu for $35 per person. And, one dollar from every meal served is donated to a local charity.

The updated website OrlandoMagicalDining.com includes the full list of participating restaurants, menus and – for the first time – designated options for vegans, vegetarians and gluten-free diets. Make a reservation through OpenTable.

Universal Orlando
The Universal Orlando Resort debuted its all-new nighttime lagoon show last evening. The Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration show combines state-of-the-art projection mapping transforming the entire waterfront and surrounding buildings, full panoramic water screens – including multi-layer water screens, pyrotechnics, more than 120 dancing fountains, and more to bring beloved characters from Universal attractions and some of the world’s biggest films to life.
Guests will witness moments from the Harry Potter series conjured by way of spells, ear-shattering roars from dinosaurs in Jurassic World, the adrenaline rush of speed from The Fast & the Furious, mischief by the Minions from Illumination’s Despicable Me and more come to life.
Universal Orlando’s Cinematic Celebration will open on a limited, unscheduled basis.
