Own a Bed and Breakfast
Jacqui Grant, the innkeeper of Almost Home Inn and a native of Maine, is creating the opportunity for a contest participant to make Almost Home Inn their home.
The Almost Home Inn Essay Contest is seeking 8,000 entries from interested participants worldwide. The prize: a bed-and-breakfast in the coastal vacation resort town of Ogunquit, Maine.
The prize property features five guest rooms plus an innkeeper’s quarters with a private bath. The Inn rests on approximately a half-acre of manicured lawns surrounded by trees and flowers. It is within walking distance of Ogunquit village and its beaches.
The winner will also receive $20,000 in cash.
The contest calls for contestants to submit a 225-word essay titled ‘Why I would like to own and operate an Inn located in Ogunquit a coastal town in Southern Maine’.
The entry fee is $110 and it is open to anyone in the world who is 18 or older.
The contest deadline is September 1. The winner will be announced on September 25.
Ogunquit, Maine was recently selected the 2016 Best Coastal Small Town in America by readers of USA Today and Readers’ Choice Award.

Tap on History
It’s always interesting to think about the history where you’re standing – who may have been there, what may have happened.
History Here is an interactive app that lets you explore thousands of historic points of interest nearby. The app comes from the History channel and maps out thousands of historic locations across the United States. Like other maps, you can use it to explore cool nearby spots, but instead of restaurants and bars, it tells you a little bit about the history around you, including architecture, museums, battlefields, monuments, famous homes and much more.
The historic locations are displayed in a zoomable, map-based view or in a scrolling list. Set the app to notify when you’re close to historical points of interest and hit the spot on the map to get a brief history lesson.
Tap Surprise Me! to see a random location somewhere in the U.S.
Explore TOURS, a new feature that use locations as a way to learn about historical themes and topics, such as Marilyn Monroe’s Hollywood, Civil War Atlanta and Al Capone’s Chicago.
Points of interest are continually added and suggestions are welcome to the editorial team.

NOTE: Airline fees can and often do exceed the cost of your flight! Additional charges now apply to budget and sale rates on most airlines for a carry-on bag, checked baggage and advance seat assignments. The least expensive fees are charged when these options are added during the flight booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.

Luxury Trailers
Yosemite Pines Resort is located just 30 minutes from the western gate of Yosemite National Park and is a popular home base for experiencing area activities such as California’s dramatic Sierra Nevada Mountains – a playground of recreation for hiking, biking, whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback riding, rock climbing, photography, and many other outdoor adventures. Visit Yosemite National Park on day trips to view waterfalls, climb Half Dome, pull in a nice trout, or ride a bike through Yosemite Valley. The YARTS shuttle motor coaches stops at the Resort and is a convenient way to travel from the Resort to Yosemite Valley.
Fodor’s Travel selected Yosemite Pines RV Resort and Family Lodging as one of their 10 Best Places to Camp Year-Round. The well-known travel website said, ‘Yosemite Pines is a multifaceted year-round resort and stands out for its variety of lodging options, cleanliness, and picturesque evergreen mountain backdrop.’
The resort now features three accurately restored classic trailers, ready to rent – a 34′ Silver Avion, a 31′ Silver Avion, and a 32′ Boles Aero. In addition, new 19′ and 24′ Silver Beach trailers built in the ‘retro’ style will be added later this month.
Per night rates (varies by season):
Silver Avion 34′ (sleeps 4) $139-$249
Silver Avion 31′ (sleeps 4) $119-$229
Boles Aero 32′ (sleeps 4) $119-$229
Retro Silver Beach 19′ $119-$229
Retro Silver Beach 24′ $139-$249
The themed sites of the classic and retro trailers will remind guests of the popular trailer campgrounds of the past. With modern amenities, guests can enjoy a true ‘glamping’ experience, presented with a generous amount of nostalgia.
Guests can also choose to stay in a yurt or cabin. Basic cabin rates per night (varies by season) range from $69-$199; $99-$239 for a Cozy Cabin for two or $149-$279 for 4 persons. Yurts sleep 5 and range from $59-$199.
