Tech Tips
How do you stay in touch with your travel companions when you’re far from home?
Consider goTenna, a device that comes in pairs and allow users to send secure text messages, talk or share their location — all without using loads of battery.
With two goTennas, the candy bar–sized devices let you communicate with a companion by cell phone even in places where there’s little or no reception. The device syncs with any iPhone or Android through Bluetooth and can transfer data up to several miles away.
goTenna works just as well in places when you don’t want to pay roaming charges.
Pairs of goTenna retail for $199. Get a $15 savings through today, June 21.
Shopping for a new cell phone service? T-Mobile’s Simple Choice Plan lets you stay in touch while overseas. Users enjoy unlimited data and texting at no extra plan cost in more than 140 countries worldwide. Flat-rate calls are just 20 cents a minute. The plan also permits in-flight text messages on planes that use GoGo Inflight Internet.

Two to Join TSA PreCheck
Two low-cost carriers, Frontier and Spirit Airlines, will finally join the ing TSA PreCheck program, which costs $85 for a five-year period.
Frontier said it will join the program in early August and Spirit in the fall.
Until they officially get onboard with PreCheck, passengers of the airline cannot use priority screening lines even if they have already enrolled.
The reason that both carriers are late to the game is due to the lack of integration of the airline reservation and the TSA system.
The upgrades are expected to be completed by July 31.

NOTE: Airline fees can and often do exceed the cost of your flight! Additional charges now apply to budget and sale rates on most airlines for a carry-on bag, checked baggage and advance seat assignments. The least expensive fees are charged when these options are added during the flight booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.

Take a Run at Residence Inns
Residence Inn by Marriott offers a new series of custom running routes that guests can access from each of Residence Inn’s more than 700 properties in nine countries.
Each Residence Inn offers a curated two-mile or longer running route for guests to use to thrive better on long stays. The routes are available through Under Armour’s MapMyFitness app; an easy-to-use fitness tracking application that can be downloaded on both iOS and Android devices.

The course from the recently opened Residence Inn Chicago Downtown/Loop takes guests to the Windy City’s central business district and through Millennium Park.
Designed for long stays (or overnight!), Residence Inn by Marriott offers spacious suites with separate living, working, and sleeping zones, fully functional kitchens, grocery delivery service, 24-hour markets and complimentary WiFi and breakfast. Residence Inn participates in the Marriott Rewards frequent guest program where members earn points toward vacations or frequent flyer mileage for dollars spent at any of the nearly 4,500 Marriott hotels worldwide.
