TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

New Expedia Feature
Expedia.com has just launched Add-On Advantage, the newest way for travelers to save up to 43% off hotel stays when reserved at any point before a trip by booking either a flight, car or package on Expedia.com.
Their recent study shows that more than 40% of people prefer to book their flight first. Following, people make an average of 43 searches before booking lodging. No longer will they need to visit multiple sites to know they’re getting an unbeatable deal on accommodations simply because they booked a flight, car or package.
How to save with the Add-On Advantage:
Simply book a flight, car, or package to any destination on Expedia.com.
Hotel savings on select properties are instantly unlocked at rates of up to 43% off right up until the start of the trip.

The hotel stay needs to occur within the travel dates of the flight, car or package purchase.

Bus Through Switzerland
Switzerland’s new long-distance buses launched over the weekend with three lines bringing competition to the national rail network. The Eurobus lines in a business partnership with German bus giant Flixbus will link Switzerland’s major cities, providing a cheaper, but slower, alternative to the country’s expensive trains.
One route will link Geneva Airport with the city of St. Gallen, a second will connect Chur in Graubünden with the city of Sion in Valais, and a third line will run from Zurich Airport to Lugano in the Italian-speaking canton of Ticino.
Two daily services in each direction, one in the morning and one in the evening, will be offered on each of the three lines.
Sample one-way, full-price ticket costs are 23 francs from Zurich to Bern (against 50 francs for a full-price train ticket), 42 francs Basel to Bellinzona (the train fare is 80 francs) and 49 francs from Geneva Airport to Zurich Airport (96 francs on the train). The Swiss Franc is near equal with the USD.
The Swiss Express buses will have first-class and second-class sections, with passengers allowed to carry one piece of hand luggage and one other larger piece of travel luggage free of charge. Passengers can also carry one set of skis or a snowboard at no additional cost.
Eurobus hopes to open seven further lines in Switzerland in the future to locations including the Bernese Oberland.
