Orlando International Airport is the first airport in the nation to use facial-recognition technology for all international flights inbound and outbound.
The technology, otherwise known as the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Biometric Entry and Exit Program enables passengers to board in less than 15 minutes, in part because it eliminated the need for passengers to handle boarding passes and passports prior to entry.
Instead of handling paper documents, boarding passengers will queue in turnstile-like lanes, stepping onto yellow footprints and looking into a camera to have their face scanned. The scan will then be compared to images obtained from passports or other travel documents to confirm identity.
Installation of the equipment will happen over the course of the summer at gates operated by the 24 international carriers in Orlando.
Images of US citizens will be discarded within two weeks. However, images of foreign travelers will be retained for 75 years, according to US Customs and Border Protection officials.

London’s Kew Gardens
Kew is London’s largest UNESCO World Heritage site offering unique landscapes and iconic architecture from every stage of the gardens’ history. Its collection of living plants is the largest and most diverse in the world, growing out in the gardens and inside glasshouses.
Following a five-year restoration, Kew Gardens has reopened its Temperate House – the world’s largest Victorian glasshouse.
The vast greenhouse is now home to a geographically arranged collection of 10,000 plants from of temperate climates around the world. These include some of the rarest and most threatened specimens, for which the botanic garden is a final refuge.
Adult admission is £17.75 (with a donation that supports Kew’s science and conservation work); adult £16 and ages 4-16 £4.
Kew Gardens is 30 minutes from Central London. Reach the gardens by tube (Kew Gardens station and then a 500-meter walk to Victoria Gate) or by #65 bus that stops at Victoria and Lion Gate.
Onsite are five cafes and restaurants. Picnics are allowed throughout the gardens (not in glasshouses and galleries).

NOTE: Airline fees can and often do exceed the cost of your flight! Additional charges now apply to budget and sale rates on most airlines for a carry-on bag, checked baggage and advance seat assignments. The least expensive fees are charged when these options are purchased during the ticket booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.
