TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

New London Attraction
Tickets have gone sale for the world’s ‘longest and tallest tunnel slide’ down the Orbit Tower, next to London’s Olympic Stadium. The £3.5m ride measures 584 feet in length and 249 feet in height, with the descent taking about 40 seconds at max speeds of 15 mph. The slide has 12 twists and ends with a 164 feet straight run to the ground. Transparent sections let riders see the city whirling past as they descend.
The attraction in east London opens June 24.
Adult tickets will cost £17 ($25), with £12 to access the sculpture and £5 to slide down. Tickets are £15 if booked in advance.

New at Disney World
There’s always something new to keep us returning to Disney World! And there’s lots of new excitement buzzing just in time for Memorial Day weekend
Disney Springs’ Town Center will open on May 15 with more than 30 new shops and restaurants – many of them geared towards teens. Guests will be able to sample makeup, jewelry, clothing and treats that will debut in many different Town Center locations.
Toy Story Mania! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has expanded which makes it easier to ride-all-day.
A limited-engagement show ‘Jungle Book: Alive with Magic’ (inspired by the Disney film ‘The Jungle Book’) makes its debut on May 27 and through the summer at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Also on the same weekend, Disney’s Animal Kingdom will debut new day-into-nighttime experiences. The park’s iconic ‘Tree of Life’ will awaken each night with magic fireflies, color, and projections.
Guests can ride on Kilimanjaro Safaris and see the animals in the extended orange glow of a setting sun on the new nighttime adventure. Two new species – African wild dogs and hyenas – will join other safari favorites like lions, zebras, and elephants. Rides like Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest – Legend of the Forbidden Mountain will also be open at night.
The Village of Harambe will come alive at night with the new Harambe Wildlife Party, which features dancers and street musicians performing African music.
A similar street party celebration will take place nightly at Discovery Island, called the Discovery Island Carnivale. Guests can expect vibrant costumes, stilt walkers and a variety of exotic food offerings.
The highly-anticipated ‘Rivers of Light’ show is expected to debut sometime this summer, but Disney has not given an official premier date. The show was originally planned to debut on Earth Day, April 22, but was delayed.
Down the road, ‘Pandora – The World of Avatar’ will open at Animal Kingdom. The new land is based on James Cameron’s 2009 film ‘Avatar.’ Cameron recently announced three sequels, with the first hitting theaters in 2018. Disney has not released an official opening date for Pandora, but the land is expected to open sometime in 2017 or possibly 2018.
Check rates on stays at an official Disney Resort or at a Disney Springs Resort (formerly Downtown Disney).

The least expensive fees are charged when these options are added during the flight booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.
