TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

New Market Site in Paris
The new futuristic Forum des Halles was officially inaugurated this week following six years of construction. Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo said the area, which she said was once an ‘architectural disaster’, will soon become the new beating heart of the City of Light.
Les Halles was shuttered in 1971 and its magnificent 1850s-era iron-and-glass structure dismantled (a part of which was exported to Japan and reassembled in Yokohama). Today the leaf-shaped Canopy aims to be a welcoming urban environment, blending retail shops with an acre of playgrounds for children, space for lawns and benches, a hip-hop center and recording studio, an auditorium, and a plethora of other cultural amenities.
It’s just one phase of a billion-euro overhaul of the commercial center currently known as the Forum des Halles, or more often just ‘Les Halles’.

Construction isn’t expected to be completed until 2018, with a metro-RER station, garden area, and pedestrian zones still to be finished.
Officials have documented many stages of the project on an official website.

Trump Breach?
The Trump Hotel Collection may have been the victim of a data security incident. There may have been unauthorized malware access to some of the computers that host front desk terminals and payment card terminals in restaurants, gift shops and other point-of-sale purchase locations at some hotels managed by the Trump Hotel Collection. For those customers that used credit or debit cards to make purchases during this time, malware may have affected payment card data including payment card account number, card expiration date and security code.
For the Las Vegas and Waikiki properties, cardholder first and last name may also have also been affected for transactions in restaurants, gift shops and other point-of-sale purchase points at those properties.
The Trump Hotel Collection is offering one year of complimentary fraud resolution and identity protection services from Experian to all customers of the Properties who used a payment card at the properties between May 19, 2014, and June 2, 2015.
If you stayed at one of the Properties during that time period, call 1-877-803-8586 for more information about eligibility and enrollment for the complimentary identity protection services.
Visit the Trump Hotel Collection for more information.

Additional charges now apply to budget and sale rates on most airlines for a carry-on bag, checked baggage and advance seat assignments. The least expensive fees are charged when these options are added during the flight booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.
