TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

Disney Cruises
Family vacation giant Disney is expanding its move into river cruising with its first river trips in France. The Adventures by Disney division will offer 21 river cruises in 2019.
The voyages will include new nine-night trips on France’s Seine River as well as seven-night Danube and Rhine sailings (Danube and Rhine sailings also during 2018).
The river line AmaWaterways will operate river cruises for Disney. The trips take place on new AmaWaterways vessels that have been custom built for the family market with cabin configurations that can hold three or four people – a rarity in river cruising. Shore tours and on-board activities also have been custom-designed with families in mind.
The new Seine River trips will combine a two-night stay in Paris with seven nights aboard an AmaWaterways vessel on the Seine. Along the way, passengers will visit small French towns such as Conflans and Vernon. They’ll also travel to the D-Day beaches in Normandy.
Disney plans four departures of the Seine itinerary in 2019. Two will be scheduled for the summer and aimed at families. The other two will take place in the fall and be exclusively for adults. The latter will offer curated food- and wine-themed experiences both on and off the ship.
Disney said it would offer ten sailings on the Rhine in 2019, two of which will be for adults only. The company will offer seven departures on the Danube that also include one adult-only trip.

Check out a new CDC report that sheds light on the state of cleanliness in the seafaring hospitality industry showing that more cruise ships failed health inspections in 2017 than at any other time in the past decade.
The Miami Herald recently reported that four Carnival ships failed sanitation inspections in the span of two months.

NOTE: Airline fees can and often do exceed the cost of your flight! Additional charges now apply to budget and sale rates on most airlines for a carry-on bag, checked baggage and advance seat assignments. The least expensive fees are charged when these options are purchased during the ticket booking process. Fees climb higher after flights are reserved and even higher when adding these options at airport check-in. Kayak offers the most up-to-date Fees Chart for all domestic and international airlines.
