TRAVEL TIPS & TIDBITS

Europe Road Trip
The seasoned reservations team at Auto Europe has revealed its predictions for the Top 3 road trip destinations in Spain for 2017:
#3 Merida: The capital city and surrounding region of Extremadura are the perfect destination for history buffs as well as off-the-beaten-path travelers. Extremadura’s relative obscurity makes it a perfect destination to immerse oneself in the culture of the area without having to fight crowds. The dramatic landscape of the region translates to an unforgettable European road trip destination.
#2. San Sebastian: The stunning seaside paradise is the hidden gem of Basque Country. Coming off its designation of Europe’s Capital of Culture in 2016, the city’s popularity among North American travelers is beginning to sky rocket as more and more travelers discover the rich culinary traditions, pristine beaches, and many hiking trails.

#1. Malaga: Travelers to this vibrant city can expect a diverse mix of history, art, nightlife and nature when visiting this Andalusian port city. Malaga’s popularity as a car rental pickup destination grew considerably in 2016 among Canadian travelers, a trend that’s expected to continue in early 2017.
Visit Auto Europe for road trip itineraries in Italy, Germany, France, the UK, Portugal, Norway, Ireland, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

Taking a road trip a bit closer to home? Having a collection of great songs to accompany you on a journey is an absolute necessity. And recommended playlists are also good to have for the drive home from work! Auto Europe shares its four road trip playlists — Electronic Dance, Hip Hop/Rap, Singer/Songwriter, and the Ultimate Playlist.

Future Hotel Room
The hospitality management school Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne in Switzerland has released a video clip demonstrating the hotel room of the future.
The virtual clip is the combination of two concepts devised by winners of its Future of Hospitality contest launched last year.
The first concept is about bringing nature inside the hotel room to create a peaceful environment for the guest to stay in. The idea is that the traveler can shut out the bustling city using augmented reality to display nature scenes on walls and/or windows. Accompanying sounds and smells would also be part of the experience.
The second idea is about maximizing space so that the guests enters the hotel room and says what he/she wants to do. If it’s work then the relevant furniture and equipment merges from the room floor and walls.
This is the vision for about year 2033 giving the tech space plenty of time to get everything in place.
