If you’re planning a trip to visit family, friends, or just to get away, there’s a brand new option that promises low-cost fares and several nonstop domestic routes.
Breeze Airways Offers Cheap Fares and Nonstop Routes
Breeze Airways has received certification to launch flights starting May 27, 2021. Its introductory fares start at just $39 — with no change or cancellation fees.
The airline hopes to appeal to travelers wishing to avoid mega-airports to visit friends, family and attractions this summer. Breeze Airways will serve small and medium-size destinations that don’t often see nonstop flight service.
Breeze will initially offer flights to/from four hub airports: Tampa, Charleston, New Orleans and Norfolk.
The first flights scheduled are:
- Tampa-Charleston
- Tampa-Louisville
- Charleston-Hartford
- Charleston-Louisville
Additional flights will be added in June and July, giving Breeze 39 nonstop routes between 16 cities as far east as Providence, Rhode Island, and as far west as San Antonio, Texas, this summer.
I found several $39 fares available when I looked at booking a flight from Tampa, Florida to Louisville, Kentucky in June 2021:

Breeze Airways Perks and Policies
Passengers will be allowed to make flight changes up to 15 minutes prior to a scheduled departure. Breeze will credit funds from the change or cancellation to a customer’s account for up to 24 months.
Base fares include the allowance for a personal item such as a handbag or backpack. Checked bags and other carry-on items cost $20 per item (up to three pieces) if you include it in your purchase on the app or website. If you wait until you get to the airport, it will cost $50.
At booking, travelers have the option to pay ($10-$50) for seat assignment, priority boarding, seats with more legroom, and snacks and beverages.
The carrier was started by David Neelman, the founder of airlines JetBlue and WestJet. We’re told to expect Breeze’s model to continue to offer affordable a la carte pricing with an aim to be the “world’s nicest airline.” We’ll just have to take a flight to test it out.
