Unreal Mobile is a cheap cell phone provider that offers plans on Sprint and AT&T’s networks, but how are the data speeds?
With plans starting at just $10 a month for unlimited talk, text and 1GB of high-speed data, you may be wondering if there’s any sort of “gotcha” involved.
Money expert Clark Howard tested Unreal back when it partnered only with Sprint and had no issues with the service.
Unreal Mobile speed test on AT&T’s network
Fast forward a few months and Unreal Mobile now has two network partners, Sprint and AT&T. I signed up for the service using Unreal’s GSM partner, AT&T, to see how it works.
After activating my plan, I immediately made two phone calls and the quality was good. I then conducted a speed test.
Using the Speedtest by Ookla app, I ran the test three times to find out the download and upload speeds. I mostly pay attention to the download speed because that’s what affects web browsing and streaming quality.
Unreal Mobile’s service on AT&T’s network averaged a download speed of 10 Mbps and upload speed of 3 Mbps.
Although 10 Mbps is lower than some of our previous speed tests with other carriers, it’s still acceptable for everyday data needs on your phone, like streaming YouTube videos.
The three speed tests were conducted using a Moto G6 smartphone from a single location in Atlanta, Georgia.
I spent the past two weeks testing all of Unreal Mobile’s features and wrote a comprehensive review of the pros and cons. Here’s what you need to know before you sign up!
