Apple TV 4K, Roku Express and Amazon Fire TV are three of the most popular products on the market that allow cord cutters to stream their favorite TV shows, movies and other media content.
But did you know that some live TV streaming providers will give these devices away for free if you sign up with them?
Live TV streaming: Best Apple TV 4K, Roku and Amazon Fire TV deals
Let’s be clear about one thing: Although you can get a streaming device at no cost with one of the limited-time deals I’m about to share with you, the fine print is that you’ll have to prepay for a streaming service for a period of time.
These cable and satellite TV alternatives generally come with free trials, but you give that up with the following offers…
1. Apple TV 4K
AT&T’s DirecTV Now has a tempting deal for new subscribers! If you prepay for three months of service — starting at $35/month for 60+ channels — you’ll receive an Apple TV 4K with Siri Remote, which sells for $179 on Apple.com.
The total price for three months of DirecTV Now’s base package is $105, so that’s a good bargain even if you don’t love the service.
2. Amazon Fire TV Pendant
If you’re not an Apple fan, DirecTV Now has a second offer for an Amazon Fire TV Pendant, which is a $69.99 value. This deal requires prepaying for two months of service to get the device at no extra cost.
Keep in mind that there are no refunds or credits on prepaid service, according to DirecTV Now’s website.
One other note for both of DirecTV Now’s deals: Streaming players will ship within two to three weeks for online orders, but you can order in a retail store and walk out with the device in hand the same day.
3. Roku Express
The third offer gets you a free Roku Express, a $29.99 value, if you prepay for two months of Sling TV.
This special is available for new customers only and there’s a limit of one device per Sling TV account. After the two months, your credit card will be charged monthly until you cancel the service.
Sling TV’s base package starts at $20 per month and includes ESPN, Disney, HGTV, CNN and more.
Best live TV streaming services
If you’re tired of paying $100 per month for cable or satellite TV, money expert Clark Howard says YouTube TV, DirecTV Now, Sling TV, PlayStation Vue and Hulu with Live TV are five options to consider — all with packages around $40/month.
His favorite is YouTube TV for its channel lineup, unlimited DVR and multiple streams. The service has no free device offers.
For many households, finding the best live TV streaming package is going to come down to the channel lineup. Team Clark has put together a chart to help you compare what the five leading services offer.
