The name of the feature explains it all. Find Wi-Fi helps you locate available Wi-Fi hotspots that nearby businesses have shared with Facebook, which can come in handy when you’re traveling or have weak cellular data.

Public Wi-Fi is often found at places like coffee shops, restaurants, libraries and hotels — just to name a few.

To find Wi-Fi hotspots, follow these steps:

  • Open the Facebook app
  • Click on the “More” tab
  • Click “Find Wi-Fi” and turn on the setting if necessary

After you’ve activated the feature, you can see the closest available Wi-Fi hotspots on a map from businesses that have shared that information with Facebook.

To use Find Wi-Fi, you must enable “Location History” in your Facebook settings.

Although public Wi-Fi is very convenient, it’s not as secure as your home network. Experts suggest that you avoid sharing personal banking or credit card information over these connections.
