The ‘Other’ messages folder will soon be phased out, according to Forbes.
In its place will be Message Requests, which is a catch-all for ‘messages from out-of-network users,’ according to Forbes.

The recipient will be able to see details about who is sending the message, their mutual friends as well as his or her city and network without the sender knowing whether or not the message has been read. If the recipient chooses to respond to the message, the chat is moved to the main messages folder.
Ignored and deleted messages will go to the Filtered Requests folder, according to Forbes.
Facebook’s head of Message Products, David Marcus, made the announcement in a post earlier this week.
