Thanksgiving store hours have become increasingly controversial, as many view the companies’ bid to conduct business — with hard-to-beat sales, no less — as contributing to a breakdown in family time. As a result many stores have decided to close on Thursday or open late in order to get a jump on Black Friday.
Only a quarter of Americans are in favor of Thanksgiving store openings, according to BestBlackFriday.com. Meanwhile, 47% of people are against stores opening on Thanksgiving, while 27% were indifferent.
