Hey, milk drinkers: You may be owed money from this lawsuit settlement


Residents of 15 states and the District of Columbia who bought milk since 2003 may be entitled to a cash payout as part of a lawsuit settlement.

According to the official website for the Fresh Milk Products Price-Fixing Class Action Lawsuit, residents of the affected states who bought milk or other dairy products from retailers may receive between $5 and $15. 

However, you should know that the payout will be revised as more claims are filed. 

Eligible residents:

  1. Arizona
  2. California
  3. District of Columbia
  4. Kansas
  5. Massachusetts
  6. Michigan
  7. Missouri
  8. Nebraska
  9. Nevada
  10. New Hampshire
  11. Oregon
  12. South Dakota
  13. Tennessee
  14. Vermont
  15. West Virginia
  16. Wisconsin

The cash payouts are part of a $52 million class action lawsuit settlement.

Major U.S. dairy producers were accused of limiting the milk supply by prematurely slaughtering cows in order to raise prices. The defendants deny any wrongdoing.
