Few things say family holiday gatherings as much as Honey Baked Ham. With locations in 41 states, Honey Baked has been a fixture at holiday dinner tables since 1957.
But it isn’t always exactly cheap to put one on your table!
Honey Baked Ham coupons aren’t the only way to save
If you’ve ever had a spiral-sliced Honey Baked Ham, you know it’s not uncommon to pay more than $55-$60 or more for an eight-pounder with the bone-in.
With that in mind, here are some ways you can save the next time you want mo’ Honey for less money during the holidays!
Buy a “miscut”
Ever bought a T-shirt or a pair of socks that had some funky stitch work? Then you know you can get a big discount by buying irregulars.
The same thing holds true for Honey Baked Ham. Sometimes the store doesn’t slice the meat correctly. Rather than throwing it out, they will sell it to you at a discount.
reddit user Starfire66 offers the following advice for snagging these kinds of deals:
Most people don’t know this, but Honey Baked Hams sells “miscuts” at a substantial discount. Nothing at all wrong with them, except that the spiral cut pattern didn’t go perfectly. Stop in to the store and ask if they have any miscuts, and if they don’t, just keep stopping in when you have the time and get one of those. We always get one for the holidays this way, and it’s a lot cheaper than the full-priced ones.
Editors note: This may not available in all stores. Please check with your store to see if this is an option.
Get your hands on a discounted gift card
Did you know it’s possible to buy gift cards for many popular restaurants and retailers at a deep discount from face value?
Sites like CardPool and GiftCardGranny connect buyers with resellers who got the gift card from somebody else, but don’t want to use it themselves.
Amazingly, you can still save up to 16% at the time of this writing on a Honey Baked Ham gift card through Cardpool.com.
GiftCardGranny.com, meanwhile, has even steeper discounts at up to 22% off face value!
But act fast — the closer we get to the holidays, the sooner this inventory is likely to thin out.
Join the Honey Baked Rewards program for freebies
Like a lot of other restaurants and retailers, Honey Baked has its own loyalty program.
When you join Honey Baked Rewards, you’ll get hooked up with a free Ham Classic and special offers all year long!
Watch your mailbox
Honey Baked will typically do a blanket mailing a few times a year around Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter.
If you live in a zip code near a store, you’re likely to already be on the mailing list.
Check your mailbox for a standalone mailer that looks like this:
Buy a newspaper
You know those grocery coupon circulars from RedPlum and SmartSource that come in the Sunday paper? They will sometimes have a full page ad with coupons for Honey Baked.
Check it out next time you’re at the supermarket.
