Here Are This Year’s Best Vacuum Brands
In J.D. Power’s newest vacuum satisfaction study, Dyson and Shark outrank competitors in three different categories.
- Dyson ranks highest in the canister segment with a score of 847. A new Dyson canister vacuum is available now for $399.99.
- Dyson also came out on top in the stick model category with a score of 859 while Shark earned second place with a score of 855. Dyson cordless stick vacuums currently begin at $249.99. You can find Shark corded stick vacuums beginning as low as $169.99.

J.D. Power says it based its study on responses from nearly 4,000 customers who purchased an upright, canister or stick vacuum within the past year. The customer satisfaction ratings were determined based on six key drivers: ease of use, features, performance, price, styling/appearance and warranty. However, the study did not compare specific models between brands.

Based on J.D. Power’s recent customer satisfaction survey, Dyson ranks highest in two categories while Shark ranks highest in one.
The same study revealed that 44% of vacuum purchases are now taking place online and that word-of-mouth recommendations have become more significant than ever.
