While you may associate savings around this time of year with Labor Day bargains or back-to-school items, August is actually a great time to get deals on a variety of different things.
Here’s a round-up of the best discounts you’re likely to find during the month of August.
As dealerships make room for new 2016 models, 2015 models have to go. So between now and the end of the year, you’ll start to see some big discounts. And August is a great time to grab one of those bargains — while inventories of the discounted models are still high, Jessica Caldwell, director of industry analysis for Edmunds, told The Washington Post.
After Black Friday, August is the best time to buy a laptop. Back-to-school sales are in full swing and according to DealNews, laptop prices typically drop an extra 8% to 25% in August and early September. For Apple products, DealNews recommends you check out Best Buy, which offers the MacBook Air 11′ Laptop for around $750. The retailer is also offering $150 select laptops. If you aren’t looking to spend much, you can get some great deals on laptops that don’t have all the bells and whistles, but likely have enough capabilities to get the job done.
Summer break may be coming to an end, but the heat isn’t going anywhere any time soon. You can find some great deals on clothing with summer clearance sales. Whether it’s for this year or next, summer apparel sales can save you between 50% and 85% at places like REI and other stores. August is also a great time to buy swimsuits, which are discounted as much as 50% right now at many retailers.
Whether you need it for a dorm room or it’s just time to finally do a little reorganizing, now is a great time to buy storage containers. Wal-Mart has several storage items on sale and The Container Store is also offering some big discounts.
Patio furniture & grills
Patio furniture can do some serious damage to your wallet, but during the month of August, you can find some really great deals! According to DealNews, prices on outdoor furniture are at their lowest during this time of year and sales will peak by Labor Day weekend. On top of saving yourself the money for next summer, you can still enjoy new outdoor furniture for a few months this year! Last year, DealNews says Target, Pottery Barn and Sears offered sales that ranged between 50% and 75% off!
The end of summer is also a great time to buy a new grill. During the month of August, retailers will cut prices on grills and accessories in order to clear out inventory before the fall. Sears and Target are great places to grab a deal.
August is a great time to book travel! Flights for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are cheapest right around this time, according to Skyscanner.
